Nine pinholes across a Schofields wet area set
Small enough to miss, expensive enough to matter.
In short: Pinhole records through Schofields membranes.
What a pinhole is
A break in the cured membrane roughly the width of a pen tip, usually a bubble that burst during curing.
Where we found them
Nine records across Schofields wet areas, in shower recesses and at the main drain.
Why they survive to tiling
They are invisible at walking pace. Finding them requires going over the membrane closely with light.
What happens afterwards
Water passes through, travels under the screed and appears somewhere else entirely, usually a year or more later.
The arithmetic
Minutes of a waterproofer's time before tiling, against removing tiles, screed and fixtures afterwards.
